You Are Beautiful
You are so beautiful.
I can’t look away.
I found starlight in your eyes
that makes bright my dark nights.
I found sunshine in your smile
that makes warm my cold days.
There is something about you that shines.
It dazzles my eyes, but
I can’t look away.
I could drink you in like champagne,
bubbles and all, but
never get light headed.
I found a river in your soul
always pouring forth
always dancing and laughing
always running and flowing
always changing.
I found a river in your presence
that makes cool my hot temper.
I found a lake in your love
that makes freshwater waves in my quiet life.
I find you beautiful,
but you were beautiful before I found you.
Your beauty is no one’s to tame,
it is a wonder to behold.
It can be hard to see
the stars in your own eyes.
I know that sun in your smile
shines outwards most of the time…
But you see the rivers, don’t you?
You see the lakes? Hear the waves?
Your beauty is not mine to tame
but neither is yours.
Your beauty should flourish and grow
until there is enough for you to see it
enough, only then, for you to share.
Your beauty is bountiful and natural.
It just is…
And if it happens to be my honour
to see and hear and feel it,
then let it be your pride and joy
to know that you are beautiful
in a way that perhaps only I can see,
but only you can be.
